D-day -106

A lot of things have happened since the last update. So much indeed that I think a list could be appropriate. So here comes, in no evident order, the List of Stuff I've done in Sweden this week:

• Had seminar. Expected comments on text. Got mini-thesis-defence (mini-disputation) where I had to explain and defend (duh...) my methodology, assumptions, and conclusions. Sweaty in its unexpectedness, but good preparation.
• Received about 5 cm comments. That is, a 5 cm thick pile of papers with comments.
• Prepared and gave lecture on biofuels and biorefineries 
• Attended to friend's thesis defence. Wore pink feather boa to party. Success.
• Reinstalled computer. Expecting many hours before everything is back to normal. Will feel good afterwards.
• Confirmed preliminary date for Thesis defence. March 2 is on the top of the wish list. Just needs to be confirmed by a bunch of other involved people first.
• Confirmed what I've always suspected - humour and unconventionalness is not welcome in academia. And I'm not talking about no dirty, immodest, below the waist humour, here. Only about entitling a chapter "Wrapping it up" instead of the imho over-obsessively dull, but infinitely more descriptive, "Discussion, conclusions and future work". 
• Started planning for life after PhD.
• Got much praise and acclaim for blog and progress diagram (which I showed as part of my seminar presentation). Ego likes much. I knew it would be good for something.

Today's Achievements
Status: Tired. And a bit homesick (even though I haven't even left Sweden yet). A few days home made me realise how much I like my kitchen. Do miss the peach scented toilet paper though. Very soft and smoochy.
